JUST IN: Appeal Court Overturns Rape Conviction of Lagos Doctor Femi Olaleye
The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has overturned the rape conviction of Dr. Femi Olaleye, the managing director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation. In its ruling on Friday, the appellate court stated that the lower court erred in its judgment, leading to the nullification of the conviction.
As a result, the court discharged and acquitted Olaleye of all charges.
Olaleye was previously convicted in October 2023 by the Lagos Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court on charges of defilement of a child and sexual assault by penetration. Justice Rahman Oshodi, who presided over the case, had sentenced the doctor to life imprisonment.
