JUST IN: APGA Loses Key Financier as Prof. Theodore Okonkwo Defects to APC
Professor Theodore Okonkwo, a two-time APGA aspirant for Idemili North/South Federal Constituency and a major financial supporter of the party, has resigned from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter to the APGA Chairman of Oraukwu Ward, Prof. Okonkwo cited his constitutional right to belong to a political party of his choice, describing his decision as “deeply personal” and stating that he would seek spiritual guidance on his next steps.
Prof. Okonkwo, a professor of law and prominent oil magnate, has been influential in APGA’s political victories in Idemili North and South LGAs. His defection to APC, reportedly alongside his political structures, is expected to strengthen APC’s position in the region ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
Political observers note that his departure is a significant setback for APGA, given his role in financing and shaping the party’s campaigns locally.
