JUST IN: Another Nigerian Governor Sacks All Commissioners, Directs Perm Secs to Take Over Ministries
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved his cabinet and directed Permanent Secretaries to immediately take charge of all ministries until new commissioners are appointed.
The governor announced the dissolution on Monday during the State Executive Council meeting in Minna. He made it clear to outgoing commissioners that lobbying would not influence future appointments.
“Don’t lobby anyone, no one can lobby me. As you leave here, please hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in your ministries,” Bago said.
Governor Bago explained that the decision followed an assessment of his commissioners’ performance since assuming office. He noted that while some performed well, others failed to meet expectations.
He assured that a new cabinet will be unveiled within the next two weeks, adding that the reshuffle was part of efforts to reposition his administration for greater efficiency.
The dissolution comes as part of ongoing reforms in the state’s governance structure.
