JUST IN: Amaewhule-led Rivers Assembly Blocks Gov Fubara from Spending
The Rivers State Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, has suspended all expenditures by Governor Siminalayi Fubara until he re-presents his budget before the House.
Lawmakers issued a seven-day ultimatum for Governor Fubara to re-submit his budget, which has expired. The motion to enforce this deadline was moved by Rivers House Leader, Major Jack, and subsequently passed by the Assembly.
The Assembly has also decided to shut down the Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account, effectively prohibiting any spending by the Fubara administration until the budget issue is resolved.
