JUST IN: Aig-Imoukhuede Returns to Access Holdings as Chairman
Access Holdings Plc (the Holdco) has announced the return of Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede as its Non-Executive Chairman, a decade after he stepped down as CEO. This decision follows the unfortunate passing of Herbert Wigwe, the previous Group Chief Executive Officer.
In a press release titled “Access Holdings Plc Announces the Return of Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede (Pioneer Access Bank Group Managing Director/CEO as Holdco Chairman After 10 Years),” signed by Mr. Sunday Ekwochi, the company secretary, the company expressed confidence in Aig-Imoukhuede’s leadership abilities.
Aig-Imoukhuede will succeed Abubakar Jimoh as Chairman, who will remain on the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The statement highlights Aig-Imoukhuede’s illustrious career in the banking and finance sector, particularly his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank from 2002 to 2013. During his leadership, Access Bank witnessed significant growth, expanding its presence both locally and internationally.
Following his retirement from Access Bank, Aig-Imoukhuede co-founded the Tengen Family Office Limited and has been actively involved in philanthropic endeavors through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, focusing on developing Nigeria’s next generation of leaders and improving healthcare accessibility.
In his new role as Non-Executive Chairman, Aig-Imoukhuede will collaborate with the Board of Directors to oversee strategy and provide guidance to the executive management team. His return symbolizes the Board’s commitment to building upon the strong foundation established during his previous tenure.
Expressing his excitement about Aig-Imoukhuede’s return, Abubakar Jimoh, the outgoing Chairman, described it as a landmark development for Access Holdings. Aig-Imoukhuede, on his part, expressed his determination to deliver outstanding value to stakeholders and realize the shared vision of the company.
The announcement has generated anticipation among employees, customers, and stakeholders, who eagerly await Aig-Imoukhuede’s leadership in steering Access Holdings towards a new chapter of impact and sustainable success.
