JUST IN: Abuja Estate Kidnappers Kill Two More Abductees, Hike Ransom to N700m
Kidnappers who targeted Sagwari Estate Layout at Dutse in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January 7, 2024, have mercilessly killed two more of the abducted residents. The grim development serves as a stern warning to families desperately negotiating ransom payments.
Disturbing reports indicate that, frustrated by delays in meeting their initial demand of N60 million per person, the perpetrators have callously escalated their demands to N100 million per victim, bringing the total ransom to a staggering N700 million.
Tragically, among those ruthlessly killed is Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old secondary school student. The heart-wrenching incident follows the recent killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar in Bwari, as kidnappers sought to expedite ransom payment from the grieving family.
In a glimmer of hope, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Ali Pantami, stepped forward, announcing his efforts to mobilize N50 million in ransom for the Al-Kadriyar family. This financial support aims to secure the release of their remaining five daughters from the clutches of the kidnappers.
Amidst the escalating crisis, the residents of Sagwari Layout are preparing to stage a massive protest, expressing their frustration over perceived governmental and security inaction in rescuing their abducted community members. Initially planned for Monday, the protest has been rescheduled to Tuesday in consideration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
The situation remains tense as the community grapples with the escalating violence and the desperate plea for the safe return of their abducted loved ones.
