Jonathan to Inaugurate N222 Billion Trans-Kalabari Road Project in Rivers State
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is set to inaugurate the ambitious Trans-Kalabari road project today. This major infrastructure initiative, funded by the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, represents a significant investment in Rivers State’s development.
The project, valued at N222.1 billion, will connect the three Kalabari local government areas—Akuku-Toru, Asari-Toru, and Degema—along with other surrounding regions. The groundbreaking ceremony coincides with the first anniversary of Governor Fubara’s administration, who assumed office on May 29 last year.
Financing for the Trans-Kalabari road will come from Rivers State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), with 30 percent of the total cost already disbursed to the contractor. The road is projected to be completed within 32 months.
In a letter of invitation seen online, it was confirmed that former President Jonathan will attend the event. The inauguration will take place at Nkpor-Akar junction in Rumuolemini, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
