JAMB Releases Additional UTME Results, Denies Cybersecurity Breach Rumors
In a recent development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the release of an additional 36,540 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. These results, initially withheld for further investigation, now contribute to a total of 1,879,437 results released so far.
According to Fabian Benjamin, the board’s spokesman, this release comes amidst false reports circulating on social media regarding the integrity of the examination process. JAMB categorically denied rumors suggesting a cybersecurity breach and the potential rescheduling of the examination. The board emphasized that such claims were fabricated by fraudsters aiming to exploit unsuspecting individuals.
Furthermore, JAMB addressed concerns raised by certain private institutions regarding the determination of “cut-off marks.” It clarified that these marks are collectively agreed upon during the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions, with each institution initially proposing its minimum admissible scores.
Additionally, the board urged religious organizations to refrain from involving themselves in matters beyond their purview, emphasizing the importance of sticking to their primary roles.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process and reassured the public that all UTME results, including those currently under scrutiny, remain secure and inaccessible to unauthorized entities. The board affirmed its dedication to thoroughly investigating any instances of examination misconduct before publishing its findings.
As misinformation continues to circulate, JAMB advised the public to exercise caution and rely only on official statements from the board regarding examination-related matters.
