Islamic Cleric Allegedly Offers ₦1m Bounty on Christian Cleric, Calls for Behe@ding in Viral Video
An online video has sparked widespread concern after a man identified as a northern Islamic cleric allegedly offered ₦1 million to anyone who would kill a Christian preacher.
In the footage, which has circulated across social media platforms, the cleric is seen displaying cash while making statements interpreted as an incentive for violence. He is heard promising payment to anyone who carries out the act, and suggesting the amount could be increased if deemed insufficient.
The video has not been independently verified, but its spread has triggered strong reactions online, with many users describing the remarks as dangerous and capable of escalating religious tension.
A separate clip shows a woman reacting to the statements, urging authorities to intervene. She questioned why security agencies had not publicly addressed the situation and expressed concern over what she described as inflammatory messaging being delivered in a place of worship.
She also contrasted the alleged threat with broader social hardship, pointing to poverty and hunger affecting vulnerable groups, and arguing that such resources could be directed toward humanitarian support instead of violence.
In a follow-up video, the same cleric reportedly reaffirmed his position, insisting that anyone who carries out the act would be paid. He also made remarks suggesting possible instability in the region if the situation escalates.
The circulation of the videos has intensified public concern over religious intolerance and the potential for violence.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies including the Department of State Services had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
