Iran Missile Launch Triggers Sirens, Sends Israelis to Shelters
Air raid sirens sounded across wide areas of Israel early Wednesday after missiles were launched from Iran, prompting residents to seek shelter as the military moved to intercept the threat.
The alert covered Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and surrounding regions. Authorities lifted the shelter order within minutes. There were no immediate reports of direct hits.
Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, said it had not received reports of injuries.
Local media reported that shrapnel fell near Jerusalem, sparking a fire. Police said officers were searching the area for impact sites, including debris from munitions or interceptor fragments.
The Israeli military said a separate missile launch from Iran had been detected roughly five hours earlier.
