Insecurity: FRSC Abolishes Patrol Points in Four Southeast States
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the abolition of its patrol points in Zone 9, which includes the Southeast states of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. This move aims to ensure the safety of FRSC personnel operating in these areas.
Assistant Corps Marshal Winfred Uche Chukwurah, the Zonal Commanding Officer of FRSC Zone 9 (RS 9.3 HQ) in Enugu, disclosed this development during his inaugural visit to the Abia State Federal Road Safety Command in Umuahia.
In his address, Chukwurah emphasized the importance of adopting a new mindset and attitude to align with the goals of the current administration led by President Ahmed Tinubu. He lauded the commitment and resilience of FRSC personnel in their duties and praised the harmonious relationships among security agencies, state governments, and the media.
Chukwurah stressed the need for the Corps to educate motorists and other road users about traffic offenses and their consequences. He also warned against behaviors that could damage the Corps’ reputation.
Meanwhile, Corps Commander Frederick Ade Ogidan, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Abia State, expressed satisfaction with his officers’ performance. He announced plans to establish additional units in Abia to enhance road safety across the state. Ogidan called on the Abia government, as well as individuals and groups, to support the FRSC’s mission to ensure safer roads.
