Imo: Gunmen Kill Police Officer, Abduct ASP in Broad Daylight Attack
Gunmen attacked a police patrol team on Sunday morning in Imo State, killing a constable and leaving an Assistant Superintendent of Police missing. The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. near Finas Gas Station along the Okigwe-Umuahia Road, close to the Old Gariki area of Okigwe.
According to a police statement, the team was led by an ASP identified as Casmir. During the ambush, Police Constable Oluebube was fatally shot and his service weapon was taken by the attackers. ASP Casmir and his AK-47 rifle remain unaccounted for, sparking fears he may have been abducted.
Other officers on the team managed to return safely to base with their weapons and are currently receiving medical treatment. The police have launched a manhunt to locate ASP Casmir and recover the missing rifle.
