“I’m Fully Involved in Process to Send Tinubu Out of Office” — Tambuwal*
Former Sokoto State governor and serving senator, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared his full involvement in opposition efforts to unseat President Bola Tinubu through democratic means ahead of the 2027 elections.
Tambuwal made the comments during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, stressing that leadership change is both possible and necessary.
“I am fully involved in a process — democratically and lawfully — that will end, by the grace of God, in sending this government out of office,” he said.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives dismissed claims that the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition is primarily driven by northern interests.
“Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State? What are you telling me? Are they not all part of the coalition?” Tambuwal asked, describing the alliance as a broad national coalition.
He maintained that Tinubu could be defeated if the opposition remained united.
“It is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027. Every effort being made to make it appear as if Bola Tinubu cannot be defeated is rubbish,” he argued.
According to Tambuwal, a coalition that brings together political heavyweights such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and even former President Goodluck Jonathan would present a formidable challenge to Tinubu.
“It will be easier for the opposition to form an alliance to defeat Tinubu. But if Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku, Peter Obi, and Kwankwaso all run separately, then it will be easy for Tinubu to win,” he noted.
However, the senator declined to name his preferred presidential candidate, saying he would do so only after all aspirants make their intentions public.
“When they all declare openly, then I will come back and tell you my choice,” Tambuwal said.
