“I’ll Continue to Build on Your Legacy” – Tinubu Celebrates Buhari at 82
President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari on his 82nd birthday, lauding his leadership and enduring contributions to Nigeria.
In a statement personally signed by him on Monday, President Tinubu extended warm wishes to Buhari, celebrating the milestone with gratitude on behalf of the nation. “I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you on your 82nd birthday,” Tinubu said.
Reflecting on Buhari’s impact, Tinubu praised his dedication and service, noting how the former president’s leadership significantly shaped Nigeria’s trajectory. He highlighted Buhari’s resilience in contesting presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011 before eventually emerging victorious in 2015 and securing a second term in 2019.
“Your steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s advancement and unity inspires many, and your enduring legacy continues to guide our nation’s journey towards prosperity and stability,” Tinubu stated.
The President further affirmed his intention to build on the infrastructure legacy left by Buhari’s administration, particularly as Nigeria’s first All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
Concluding the tribute, Tinubu wished Buhari continued good health, happiness, and fulfilment surrounded by loved ones. “Happy Birthday, and thank you for your services to Nigeria,” he said.
The celebration took place in Buhari’s hometown of Daura, where the former president marked the occasion with family and friends.
