Igbo Youths Endorse Tinubu’s Petrol Price Hike, Praise Administration’s Achievements
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide has voiced its support for the recent petrol price hike under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, expressing confidence that the economic policies being implemented will yield positive results.
In a statement released on Sunday by acting national leader Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the group emphasized that the fuel crisis is not a fault of President Tinubu. Instead, Okpalaezeukwu attributed the issue to previous administrations’ mismanagement.
He praised the ongoing reforms in the petroleum sector, including the petrol price increase, as essential steps toward restructuring the industry for Nigeria’s benefit. This support was part of the group’s resolutions following their 52nd Extraordinary National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
Okpalaezeukwu highlighted productive discussions with Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and his team. The group stressed the importance of continuous reforms and policies aimed at benefiting the general populace and enhancing national welfare.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by subsidy removal and infrastructural deficiencies, Okpalaeukwu lauded the Tinubu administration’s achievements, including increased crude oil production. He reiterated the group’s solidarity with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and other involved agencies, including the NNPCL.
The group also called for enhanced community and youth engagement to mitigate unrest and address issues of sabotage, vandalism, and theft in the sector.
