“If the Conditions Are Right, I Will Contest” – Pro- APC Activist Shehu Sani Declares Interest in 2027 Senate Race
Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has declared his intention to contest for re-election in the 2027 general elections. He made the announcement on Sunday while delivering his Eid-el-Fitr message at his residence in Kaduna.
Sani stated that his decision would depend on the political landscape and whether conditions favored his candidacy. He emphasized that while he is willing to run for the Kaduna Central senatorial district, his immediate priority is supporting the re-election of Governor Uba Sani for a second term. He pledged to work diligently towards this goal despite anticipated challenges and opposition.
During his address, Sani also called on Muslims to use the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations as an opportunity to pray for Nigeria’s peace and unity. He condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State and urged security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
He expressed concerns over security challenges in the country, stressing that unrestricted movement for citizens is a fundamental marker of a functioning nation. He warned that lawlessness and unchecked violence indicate a failure of governance and called for a collective effort to uphold democracy.
Sani further urged the government to protect fundamental human rights, particularly the right to life, as a crucial step toward national stability and development.
