“If Peter Obi Emerges as Running Mate, I Will Work Against Him” — Aisha Yesufu
Aisha Yesufu, activist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, has declared she will oppose any presidential ticket that includes Peter Obi as a running mate in the 2027 elections.
In a video circulating on social media, Yesufu described Obi, the former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, as among the strongest aspirants, insisting he deserves the presidential slot, not the deputy position.
“In my little capacity, I will work against them even if I don’t support any other candidates. Why are we always asking the best to be the second?” she added.
Obi, who recently joined the ADC—a party reportedly supported by opposition leaders seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu—is pursuing the party’s presidential nomination. Reports suggest former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could secure the ADC flag and potentially select Obi as his running mate.
