“If Elon Musk Doesn’t Stop Harassing Kamala, I’ll Sell My Tesla” – Dino Melaye
Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye has publicly warned Tesla CEO Elon Musk to stop what he describes as “harassment” of U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris. Melaye threatened to sell his Tesla vehicle if Musk, a known supporter of Donald Trump, does not halt his critical stance against Harris, the Democratic candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election on November 5.
Melaye’s statement follows significant financial contributions by Musk to Trump’s campaign. Reports reveal that the tech billionaire has donated around $119 million to the Republican cause, with a recent $43.6 million going to America PAC, an organization targeting swing states to bolster Trump’s chances.
In addition, Musk’s America PAC has stirred controversy with a $1 million daily giveaway, awarded to one registered voter per day, in an effort to amplify a petition focused on “freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.” Critics, however, have raised concerns over possible election law violations, with the U.S. Department of Justice reportedly warning Musk about the campaign’s legal risks.
Reacting to the surge in Musk’s influence, Melaye tweeted, “If Elon Musk will not stop harassing Kamala H. I will sell my Tesla and advise my friends to do the same. America should not lose her pride as the global democratic police.”
Melaye’s tweet quickly caught attention on social media, sparking both humor and criticism. Some users questioned Melaye’s focus on U.S. politics, suggesting he prioritize issues closer to home. One user tweeted, “The people in your village are suffering… and you are more concerned with American politics and Elon Musk. Shame on you.”
Others joked that selling a single Tesla would have little impact on Musk’s wealth, with another comment suggesting that “destroying the car would at least make a statement.” Some responses took on a lighter tone, while others debated the significance of Melaye’s stance and the impact of Musk’s involvement in the election.
