“I Will Only Join a Party That Gives Me Presidential or VP Ticket” – Kwankwaso
Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has outlined strict conditions for any political alliance ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking to supporters in Kano on Saturday, Kwankwaso said he would only consider joining a party that offers him the presidential or vice-presidential ticket. “We are looking for a party, but they must agree to give me a presidential or vice-presidential ticket,” he stated.
Speculation has grown that Kwankwaso may join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which already has several high-profile figures—including former Vice President Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi—expressing interest in the presidency.
Reports also suggest that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is courting Kwankwaso to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Kwankwaso, a former Minister of Defence, finished third in the 2023 presidential election, trailing President Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi.
