“I Killed My Mother for Refusing to Bathe Me” — 20-Year-Old Ebonyi Man Confesses
A 20-year-old man, identified as Damian Oforbuike, has confessed to killing his mother in Ohatekwe Ukawu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The incident occurred over the weekend when Oforbuike allegedly attacked his mother, Onyemaechi, with a machete at their residence. After the attack, he fled into a nearby forest.
Local youths later organised a search operation, tracked him down in the forest, and apprehended him. He was subsequently taken back to the community, where he was publicly paraded before being banished with a warning not to return.
In a video circulating online, the suspect admitted responsibility for the killing. He claimed the attack followed a disagreement with his mother, who he said refused to bathe him and declined to provide financial support to help his brother set up a barbing business after completing his apprenticeship.
The councillor representing the area, Maduabuchi Nweke, confirmed the incident, stating that more than 200 youths were mobilised to locate and arrest the suspect.
According to him, Oforbuike has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The body of the deceased has been deposited in a morgue.
