I Haven’t Experienced True Love, Maybe It Isn’t for Me – Tiwa Savage

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has shared a candid reflection on her love life, admitting that she has never experienced true love. In an interview with Zeze Mills, the 44-year-old singer said the only genuine love she knows is the bond she shares with her son, Jamil.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married,” she said.

The multi-award-winning artist explained that looking back on her past relationships has made her realise they were driven more by fleeting emotions than lasting affection. Savage revealed that after repeated failed attempts to find deep emotional connection, she has started to believe that love might not be meant for her.

“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.

Tiwa Savage married her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013. Their marriage ended in 2018 after efforts to reconcile their differences failed. The union produced their son, Jamil.
