I Endured Seven Sleepless Nights Before Supreme Court Verdict – Governor
Bala Mohammed, revealed that he endured seven sleepless nights leading up to the Supreme Court’s recent verdict confirming his victory in the March 18, 2023 election. Addressing supporters at a reception in the Government House, Bauchi, on Saturday evening, the governor expressed his relief and determination to focus on delivering democracy’s dividends to the people of the state.
Governor Mohammed, without specifying names, accused past leaders of Bauchi State of fabricating lies and falsehoods against him to forcefully remove him from office. He challenged these unnamed opponents to showcase their roots in the state and asserted that outsiders should not be allowed to govern Bauchi. The governor emphasized the need for leaders with genuine connections to the people.
His sleepless nights, according to Governor Mohammed, were a result of a group of former state leaders concocting various falsehoods at the Presidency to undermine his mandate. He revealed that these individuals attempted to sour his relationships with the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While acknowledging his opposition party affiliation, Governor Mohammed claimed to be in President Tinubu’s good graces, expressing gratitude for the president’s approval of his government’s initiatives in Bauchi State.
The governor attributed the attacks from his political opponents to jealousy over his achievements, emphasizing that despite receiving less funding than his predecessors, he has delivered more for the state. He highlighted his roots in Bauchi, tracing his lineage to respected traditional rulers, and pledged to uphold the legacy built by his ancestors.
Governor Mohammed, reelected in 2023 after his initial victory in 2019, assured the people of Bauchi State that with the legal challenges behind him, his administration would intensify efforts to enhance the well-being of the state’s residents during the remainder of his tenure.
