“I Don’t Know Nnamdi Kanu” – Minister of Justice Fagbemi
Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, has declared he does not know Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Fagbemi made this statement during the Ministerial Sectoral Updates, an event commemorating President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office.
Fagbemi emphasized the legal distinctions between the cases of Kanu and Omoyele Sowore, an activist who has been released. “Nnamdi Kanu and Sowore’s case are not the same. If I see Sowore, I don’t know him, if I see Nnamdi Kanu, I don’t know him,” he stated.
Despite not addressing the release of Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho by the Federal Government, Fagbemi reiterated that Kanu is detained under the rule of law. “Let’s wait for the decision of the court. No one will be held outside the laws of the country,” he added.
