“I Asked for Loan for My Health Check-Up, She Declined” — Ilebaye’s Father Speaks on Dispute With Daughter

Hon. Emmanuel Godson Odiniya, father of Ilebaye Odiniya, winner of Big Brother Naija Season 8, has spoken about the ongoing disagreement between him and his daughter, giving details of what he described as a breakdown in family communication.

In a statement released on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Odiniya said the dispute was not sudden but the result of several unresolved issues within the family. He explained that he had expected a stronger level of support and understanding from his daughter after her rise to fame.

The father specifically pointed to a recent request he made for financial assistance for a medical check-up in Dubai, which he said was turned down.

“I told my daughter I was short of funds and asked her to lend me some money for my health check-up. She said she didn’t have any,” he said.

Odiniya also claimed that he later observed what he described as large personal spending by his daughter at a friend’s wedding, a situation he said raised concerns for him given her earlier response.

He added that his decision to speak publicly was not driven by anger alone but by what he described as repeated instances of disrespect and lack of communication within the family.

“There have been several issues, and I cannot continue to stay silent while things remain this way,” he said.

The disagreement became public following reports of a physical altercation within the family, which reportedly led to police involvement. However, details surrounding that incident remain unclear.
