I am the Governor, Make Negative Comments Against Me and I Will Order Your Arrest, Matawalle Threatens Former Governor, Yari
Zamfara state Governor, Bello Matawalle has threatened to order the arrest of his immediate predecessor in office, Abdulaziz Yari if he does not desist from criticising him.
Matawalle issued the threat on Wednesday in Gusau, the state capital when he received defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor said aside from being the governor, he was Yari’s senior in politics. He stated that when he was a commissioner in the state Yari was a mere driver.
“I will show you (Yari) that I am the governor of Zamfara State. If you dare make any negative pronouncement about my position as the chief executive of the state, I will show you that I am in control of the state and I will order your arrest” he declared.
“I expect Yari to respect my position as his governor, but since he didn’t recognise me as such, I will show him that I am in charge of the state” he warned.
Since he took charge as governor, Matawalle has been engaged in war of words with Yari, who he had accused of being behind the banditry in the state.
