“I am Replacing Ajuri Ngelale,” Says Bwala as He Resumes Office as Tinubu’s Official Spokesman

Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially assumed the role of Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala’s appointment, which was announced by President Tinubu last week, came as a surprise to many. He steps into the position previously held by Ajuri Ngelale, who resigned on health grounds in September.

On his first day in office, Bwala addressed State House correspondents, emphasizing that he would remain undistracted by critics. He stated that his primary focus is to serve as the official spokesman for President Tinubu and to support the administration in achieving its goals.

“I came here today to introduce myself and clarify the role assigned to me by Mr. President,” Bwala said. “The position I occupy was previously held by Ajuri Ngelale, and as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, my responsibility is clear.”

Bwala stressed that the President is the ultimate leader of the team, and everyone, including himself, works under the President’s guidance. He added, “We are all colleagues working to fulfill the mandate of Mr. President, and we are not focused on titles or positions but on delivering results.”

Explaining his role further, Bwala noted that all officials in the administration are aides to the President, who holds the executive powers of the Federation as per Section 5 of the Constitution. “The President carries out his duties either directly or through the Vice President and ministers,” he explained.
