“I Am Not Defecting to Any Party” — Governor Adeleke Dismisses Defection Rumours

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed widespread rumours suggesting he is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Saturday in Osogbo, the governor made it clear that he remains a staunch member of the PDP and the leader of the party in Osun State.

Governor Adeleke expressed concern over the ongoing speculation, urging the public to disregard what he described as fake news. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on implementing its five-point agenda and delivering on its promises of good governance and democratic dividends.

“I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party,” the governor stated.

Speaking earlier in the week, the state PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, confirmed the governor’s unwavering commitment to the party and dismissed reports suggesting his involvement in any alliance led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku, who was the PDP presidential candidate in 2023, has reportedly launched a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge the APC in the next election cycle. However, Bisi emphasized that the Osun PDP remains united and fully aligned with its current leadership, with no interest in joining any political coalition.
