“I Am No Longer a Criminal, Willing to Surrender All My Property” – Billionaire Kidnapper Evans Pleads for Mercy

Convicted billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, known as Evans, has pleaded with the Lagos State High Court at Tafawa Balewa Square for mercy, offering to surrender all his property as part of a plea bargain agreement. Evans, who is currently serving a life sentence, expressed willingness to forfeit his assets, including 14 brand-new trucks, to the Lagos State Government. The proceeds from the sale of these trucks would be directed to compensate the victims of his crimes.

Represented by his lawyer, Etudo Emefo, Evans submitted his application before Justice Sherifat Sonaike, claiming to have undergone a transformation while incarcerated at Kirikiri Maximum Prison. According to court documents, Evans has obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics from Yewa College of Education and is now working as a teacher within the correctional facility. He asserted that he is no longer a criminal and has dedicated himself to education and rehabilitation.

As part of his plea, Evans revealed that the Federal Government awarded him a scholarship while in prison, enabling him to pursue further education. He is currently in his second year of Political Science studies at the National Open University of Nigeria under the government’s scholarship scheme. Copies of his admission letter, student ID card, and academic credentials were submitted to the court in support of his application.

Evans also disclosed that he received vocational training in welding and metal fabrication under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, successfully passing all required tests. He argued that without the Lagos State Government’s mercy, the skills and education he acquired in prison would be wasted, rendering the Federal Government’s investment in his rehabilitation ineffective.

During the court proceedings, prosecuting counsel Alaba Kuku confirmed that Evans and other defendants had expressed interest in negotiating a plea bargain with the state government. He acknowledged receiving an advance copy of Evans’ application, which is currently under review by the authorities.

The case, originally scheduled for trial, is now pending further deliberation as the court and the Lagos State Government consider Evans’ request for leniency.
