How Nine-Month Pregnant Woman Was Beaten to Death by 31-Year-Old Husband in Minna
A tragic case of domestic violence has shaken the Limawa area of Minna, Niger State, where a nine-month pregnant woman, Hauwa Isah, was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, Mohammed Sani.
The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Neighbours reported hearing distressing screams from the couple’s residence in Bani Hashimu Estate before discovering Hauwa’s lifeless body. She was rushed to General Hospital, Minna, where doctors confirmed her death and that she was due to give birth soon.
Community members expressed outrage and sorrow, calling for swift justice and stronger protections for women facing domestic abuse. According to witnesses and family members, this was not the first time the suspect had been violent. Hauwa’s father revealed that Sani had a known history of abuse, saying, “We warned him several times, but he didn’t stop. Now he has killed her.”
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that a distress call was received around 10:30 p.m. Police operatives from A Division Minna responded and found the victim’s body with bloodstains in the room. The suspect, Mohammed Sani, 31, was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.
The case is being treated as culpable homicide and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation.
