“How I Wish I Was a Governor Under You” – Akpabio Hails Tinubu for Removing Fuel Subsidy
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy, noting the positive impact on state allocations.
He highlighted that current governors now receive significantly higher federal allocations than what he received as governor of Akwa Ibom State. “Most of them say they collect four times what we used to collect,” Akpabio said.
Addressing criticisms of the Senate, he added, “We meticulously review all submissions to serve the best interests of Nigerians, even when public perception initially differs.”
Akpabio expressed appreciation for the president’s recent tax reforms and the subsidy removal, calling them beneficial for both governance and state finances.
