How Guest Was Found Dead in Hotel Room; Manager, Three Others Arrested

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the manager of Century Home Hotel in Owhelogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area, along with three others, over the gruesome murder of a guest identified as Bishop Sunday Ogofotha.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests in a statement on Friday, March 28, 2025. According to the police, the hotel manager conspired with two individuals who promised him ₦5 million in exchange for access to the victim’s room.

Sunday Ogofotha, an indigene of the community, had traveled from Lagos for a relative’s burial and checked into the hotel. He had informed his wife of his location upon arrival. However, when the burial took place on Saturday, he was nowhere to be found. Concerned family members contacted his wife, who directed them to the hotel, but the management denied that anyone matching his description had checked in.

A confrontation ensued, leading the family members to demand a search of the rooms. The hotel owner, Chief Joseph Ovie Oghole, attempted to prevent them from entering one particular room, claiming it was occupied by guests who did not wish to be disturbed. However, family members and community vigilantes forced their way in, only to discover Ogofotha’s lifeless body on the bed. He had been tied up and bore multiple injuries.

His corpse has been taken to the mortuary in Ozoro as investigations continue.
