How a 100-Level Student Killed a UNIDEL Finalist While Learning to Drive

 

A tragic accident in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, has resulted in the death of a final-year student from the University of Delta (UNIDEL). The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident, which took place last Tuesday.

 

The victim, Awele Eluemunor, a final-year student of the College of Nursing, Agbor, lost her life when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 100-level student of the same university. Reports indicate that the young woman, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was learning how to drive under the supervision of her boyfriend, who is allegedly a suspected internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo boy.”

 

According to eyewitness accounts, the inexperienced driver lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and hitting pedestrians. Awele Eluemunor was killed instantly, just months away from her graduation scheduled for November. Two other individuals sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

 

In the chaotic aftermath of the accident, the car owner and alleged instructor fled the scene, leaving the young driver behind. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect has been apprehended.

 

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Edafe Bright confirmed the incident, stating, “One dead and one injured confirmed.” The investigation into the accident is ongoing as authorities work to determine further details surrounding the case.
