How 14-Year-Old Girl Faked Own Kidnapping, Orchestrated 4-Year-Old Sister’s Abduction for N50 Million Ransom
A 14-year-old girl has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly faking her own kidnapping and masterminding the abduction of her four-year-old sister in a scheme to extort N50 million from their father.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this shocking development during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters. He stated that the police had successfully dismantled the kidnapping syndicate, rescued the four-year-old victim unharmed, arrested four suspects, and recovered one live round of AK-47 ammunition during the operation.
According to Sadiq, the case was first reported on February 20, 2025, by the girls’ father, Alhaji Badamasi Bala, a resident of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters in Katsina. He informed the police that both daughters had gone missing and that he had received a ransom demand of N50 million for their release.
The case took a startling turn when, after four months, the 14-year-old resurfaced and confessed during interrogation that she had planned the entire kidnapping with three accomplices, aged 25, 19, and 16. All suspects have been arrested and have confessed to the crime.
Sadiq confirmed that the police recovered a live round of 7.62mm ammunition during the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the swift and effective actions of the officers involved and called on the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
