Housemaid, Son Arrested in Connection with the Murder of Retired Teacher
The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with the brutal killing of Mrs Iyanuoluwa Adamolekun, a retired teacher, in her home in Arigidi Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area.
The accused have been identified as Oluwaseun, Mobarak, and Rilwan. Oluwaseun, the mother of Mobarak, served as the housekeeper in the victim’s residence.
The gruesome incident unfolded last week when Adamolekun was allegedly murdered in her sleep. The perpetrators, Mobarak and Rilwan, reportedly entered the house by scaling the fence to avoid detection through the main gate. The motive behind the crime appears to be robbery, as the assailants not only took the life of the retired teacher but also made off with her mobile phone.
The discovery of Mrs Adamolekun’s lifeless body was made by her grandchild. The police were able to trace the incident through the victim’s phone, leading to the initial arrest of one suspect, who later cooperated with law enforcement to apprehend the other individuals involved.
During the investigation, Mobarak and Rilwan admitted to using a wooden box to shatter the victim’s head while she lay on her bed. The horrifying details emerged as they confessed to the crime, revealing that the second suspect strangled the woman while she screamed for help.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the vulnerability of individuals in their own homes. The arrested individuals are now in police custody, awaiting legal proceedings as the community grapples with the loss of a respected member, Mrs Iyanuoluwa Adamolekun.
