Househelp Murders Employer 7 Days After Starting Job

A horrific incident happened in the Gbagada area of Lagos as an unidentified woman was fatally stabbed by her househelp at her residence on 29 Kiniun-Ifa Street, Sawmill. The perpetrator, known only as Peter, fled the scene, leaving behind a gruesome discovery.

The victim’s lifeless body was found on Saturday, March 9, by her son who stumbled upon the tragic scene during a visit. According to Vanguard’s investigation, the murder weapon, believed to be a lengthy piece of wood, was discovered nearby, suggesting the crime occurred days prior.

This incident bears a chilling resemblance to a previous case in the Ikeja area, where a couple fell victim to their driver and househelp’s deadly collaboration.

At the crime scene, Vanguard reporters found the victim’s residence locked and deserted. Witnesses revealed that the deceased, who resided alone in the building, was discovered in a pool of blood on the staircase. Additionally, a resident, speaking on anonymity, described the horrifying scene, noting the victim’s body showed signs of swelling, indicating a delayed discovery of the crime.

The suspect, Peter, had been employed as a househelp just a week before the tragic event. Authorities have taken swift action, with a relative of the employment agency’s agent already apprehended. However, the primary agent remains at large.

Efforts to gather more details from the victim’s devastated son were unsuccessful, as he was too overwhelmed by grief to speak.

In response to inquiries, the Ifako Police Division confirmed their visit to the scene and the subsequent removal of the victim’s body. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO Owolabi Sefunmi, redirected further inquiries to the Lagos State Police Command.

When contacted, the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Peter’s arrest. Hundeyin stated that the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCIID, Panti, for further interrogation.
