House of Representatives Summons Minister Wike, Security Chiefs Over Rising Crime in FCT
The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, along with key security officials, to address the alarming increase in kidnappings and robberies in the region.
In a move aimed at tackling these pressing security challenges, the House has also called upon the Commissioner of Police, Peter Opara, and the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Adeola Ajayi, to appear before the Committees on FCT, Police Affairs, and National Security and Intelligence.
The decision to summon these officials came after a motion of urgent public importance was raised by Representative Ismail Dabo during Tuesday’s plenary session. Dabo highlighted the personal tragedy he faced, revealing that he recently lost an aide to a “one chance” robbery incident, where her body was subsequently discarded after being robbed.
The House aims to address these critical issues in a bid to enhance the safety and security of residents in the FCT.
