Herder Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Sleeping Brother to Death in Delta
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a herder for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday. He said the incident occurred in the early hours of January 8, 2025.
According to the police, a report was received at the Ogwashi-Uku Police Division at about 7:31 a.m. that a 20-year-old man, identified as Umaru Haman, had been stabbed while asleep at Poly Road, near Adaigbo Filling Station, around 3:20 a.m. the same day.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Israel Okoyomon, led detectives to the scene for investigation.
Preliminary findings showed that the victim was allegedly attacked by his brother, Aliyu Haman, also 20, a herder suspected to be involved in drug abuse. The suspect was arrested, and the weapon allegedly used in the attack was recovered.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at Odua Mortuary in Ogwashi-Uku for autopsy. Police said the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
