Heated Senate Hearing: Nwaebonyi Calls Ezekwesili a ‘Fool,’ She Fires Back

A tense altercation unfolded during a Senate Committee hearing on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions as Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi and former Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili engaged in a heated exchange. The confrontation erupted during discussions on a petition submitted by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, alleging harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Ezekwesili attended the session alongside Abiola Akiode, legal counsel for Akpoti-Uduaghan, and petitioner Zubairu Yakubu. The proceedings took a dramatic turn when Yakubu attempted to speak while Committee Chairman Neda Imaseun was addressing the room. He was promptly silenced and ordered to turn off his microphone.

Tensions escalated further when Ezekwesili attempted to make a point but was abruptly interrupted by Senator Nwaebonyi, a witness for Akpabio. Frustrated by the interruption, Ezekwesili fired back, telling the senator to “compose yourself and stop making noise.”

The comment triggered an angry reaction from Nwaebonyi, who retorted, “You’re a fool. What do you mean? Why are you talking to me like that? I will not take it. You’re an insult to womanhood. People like you cannot be here.”

Ezekwesili responded by calling him a “hooligan,” further fueling the clash. The heated exchange, captured on video, has since gone viral, sparking widespread reactions.
