Hardship: Man Allegedly Kills Wife and Baby, Found Dead the Following Day in Aba

A tragic incident has rocked the Osisioma area of Aba, Abia State, where a local shoemaker reportedly killed his wife and infant child before being found dead the next day.

The man, identified as Udokwukwu from Onicha Ngwa in Obingwa Local Government Area, was said to have taken the lives of his family members following intense economic hardship. According to a report by Sun Daily, the incident occurred after an argument between Udokwukwu and his wife, Mary, who had visited his shop to ask for money to feed the family—a request he could not meet.

Sources in the area claimed the man, already frustrated by financial pressure, was further angered by what he believed to be signs of infidelity. Later that night, he allegedly returned home with a container of fuel, doused the apartment while his wife and baby were asleep, and set it on fire, killing them both.

Udokwukwu’s body was discovered the following day by family members under unclear circumstances. While some suspect suicide, others believe he may have been attacked in retaliation by unknown individuals.

Police have taken the bodies to a local mortuary, but as of the time of this report, the Abia State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
