Gunmen Strike Again in Niger Community: Security Agents, Villagers Killed, Scores Abducted
The community of Kuchi in Munyan Local Government Area of Niger State has been attacked by gunmen, leading to the deaths of four members of the Military Joint Force and three villagers. The villagers were reportedly shot while attempting to flee into the surrounding bush.
Our correspondent has learned that approximately 300 gunmen descended on the community, riding motorcycles in pairs or trios, all heavily armed. The assailants conducted their raid uninterrupted for about three hours, starting around 7 PM on a rainy Friday evening, with no external assistance reaching the besieged villagers.
In other news, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has called for the official adoption of zoning political offices across Nigeria to ensure political balance and maintain peace. During a visit from members of the Niger State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, Abdulsalami highlighted the positive impact of zoning on peace and stability in Niger State since the return of democracy in 1999, urging other states to follow suit.
