Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest from Parish Residence in Kaduna
The Catholic Diocese of Zaria has reported the abduction of Reverend Father Emmanuel Ezema, who was taken late Tuesday night from his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rumi, Kaduna State. According to a letter issued by the diocese chancellor, Reverend Father Isek Augustine, the priest was seized at about 11:30 p.m. on December 2.
In the letter circulated to clergy and parishioners, the diocese appealed for collective prayers, urging the public to seek divine intervention for the priest’s safe and swift release. The message also invoked the protection of the Virgin Mary, expressing hope that Father Ezema and all others held by kidnappers would return unharmed.
Attempts to reach officials of the Kaduna State police command for comments, through both calls and text messages, received no response as of the time of publication.
