Police Confirm Abduction of GO’s Daughter

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Ibukun Otesile, the 2025 President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite and daughter of Reverend Olalekan Babatunde, General Overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries, Ibadan. She was reportedly seized by gunmen on Thursday night at the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan.

Otesile, a mother of two, was said to have been taken right in front of her residence. The incident immediately triggered panic across religious and community circles, with many taking to social media to raise alarm and call for swift rescue efforts.

Police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso, a Chief Superintendent, confirmed the development and stated that investigations are already underway. He did not provide additional details, noting only that the command is actively working on the case.

The incident also drew the attention of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State chapter. Olamide Olanrewaju, Personal Assistant to the outgoing CAN Chairman, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju, said the association received a distress alert around 8:45 p.m. According to him, the information was immediately shared within CAN’s communication network, where the victim’s father is also a member.

Olanrewaju explained that group members began praying while simultaneously escalating the alert to key security contacts, including the chaplain of the Police Force Headquarters in the state. He added that early accounts indicated Otesile was abducted at the gate of her home, though the exact circumstances remain uncertain.

A formal alert issued by CAN confirmed the kidnapping and appealed to security agencies for urgent intervention. The association called on both the Nigerian Army Headquarters and the Nigeria Police Force to deploy all necessary resources toward securing Otesile’s safe release.

As of the time of filing this report, no information has emerged concerning the identity of the abductors or whether any ransom has been demanded. Authorities continue to investigate as efforts to locate and rescue Otesile intensify.
