Gunmen Abduct Two Immigration Officers in Benue, Demand N10m Ransom

Gunmen have abducted two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Benue State and are demanding N10 million for their release. The victims, identified as Officer Oliver Orasuur and Officer David Shiaondo Iorwuese, were taken along the Katsina-Ala – Ukum Road a few days ago.

Sources said the abductors have reached out to the families of the officers to insist on the ransom payment. The NIS has described the incident as a critical moment for the Service, calling for swift intervention and collective efforts to ensure the safe return of the victims.

The abduction follows a similar case in May, when gunmen stormed the residence of another NIS officer, Simon Agbo, in Makurdi, Benue State. Witnesses recounted that the attackers fired into the air to cause panic before seizing Agbo at gunpoint and taking him away, leaving others at the scene unharmed. The officer, who had been redeployed from Kwara to Benue earlier in the year, was relaxing with neighbours when the assailants struck. His kidnappers demanded N20 million for his release.
