Gunmen Abduct Businessman and Two Daughters in Late-Night Attack Near Abuja
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have once again struck near the Federal Capital Territory, abducting a businessman and his two daughters in Zhibi, a community neighbouring Dei-Dei town but located within Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to reports gathered by *Abuja Metro*, the victims — identified as businessman Muhammad Shuaibu, his 200-level university student daughter, and her younger sister — were taken away when the attackers invaded their home around midnight on Friday.
Family sources said the assailants gained entry through the backyard door after destroying a burglar-proof padlock. “They did the same in the room where the wife of the family head was sleeping. She woke up to see them inside her room and ran toward her husband’s room,” a relative recounted.
The gunmen reportedly gathered the entire family in the sitting room, threatening to take everyone. “The wife knelt down and pleaded with them to spare her baby, and they eventually left her and the infant behind,” the source added.
The attackers also seized the couple’s mobile phones and demanded food items, which the family did not have. Local residents said security presence in the area remains minimal, with only a handful of personnel at the nearby police outpost. They also noted jurisdictional confusion between police units in Niger State and those in the FCT, which often hampers swift response during such incidents.
As of Monday afternoon, there had been no contact between the kidnappers and the victims’ relatives. Efforts to reach the Police Area Commander in Suleja, Muhammad Sani Musa, were unsuccessful, though a police source confirmed the abduction and said investigations were ongoing to track the perpetrators.
