Gunmen Abduct 13 in Abuja Community, Demand N900m Ransom
Suspected gunmen have once again struck a blow to the security of the Bwari area council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), kidnapping thirteen individuals from the Piko Community. This incident closely follows a similar attack on Bmuko community just a week prior, where four residents remain in captivity.
Reports indicate that the assailants, who remain unidentified, launched their operation during the early hours of Sunday, met with minimal resistance, and executed the abduction over a span of one hour. One resident, speaking anonymously, disclosed that Chief John Jatau, the Madaki of the community, confirmed the abduction of ten residents and four Fulani herdsmen during the assault. Notably, one of the four herdsmen managed to escape from the kidnappers.
The kidnappers have since demanded a staggering ransom of N900 million for the release of the abducted individuals, as per the same source.
Among those taken are Nuhu Anyiwoyi, Emmanuel Nuhu, Danjuma Ali, Parisa Numa, Ezekiel Jatau, Shekwosa Ezekiel, Roseline Samuel, Salome Jacob, Abyelo Ezra, and Ezra Male.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the FCT Police Command, through Public Relations Officer Josephine Odeh, are still pending.
