Grammys 2026: Tyla beats Nigerian stars to African music prize (Full List of Winners)
Nigeria’s nominees left the 2026 Grammy Awards without a win, despite appearances in two key categories.
Burna Boy, Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid were all nominated in Best African Music Performance. The award went to South Africa’s Tyla for Push 2 Start, ahead of Burna Boy’s Love, Davido and Omah Lay’s With You, and Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat.
Tyla first won the category in 2024 with Water, when the Recording Academy introduced the award. Her 2026 victory makes it a second win in three years.
In Best Global Music Album, Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness lost to Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo by Brazilian musicians Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia.
Across the night, Kendrick Lamar led with five awards, including Record of the Year for Luther with SZA. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Billie Eilish took Song of the Year for Wildflower, while Olivia Dean was named Best New Artist.
The Recording Academy presented awards in 95 categories, with most announced during the pre-telecast ceremony.
