Governor Otti’s Surprise Appearance at PDP Event in Umuahia Raises Eyebrows, Ikpeazu’s Absence Adds Intrigue

Umuahia witnessed a spectacle on Saturday as Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, made a surprise appearance at the venue of the 76th birthday celebration and grand reception for former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara.

The event, organized by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saw Otti, a member of the Labour Party (LP), arriving during the speech of acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagun. Notable PDP governors like Enugu’s Peter Mbah, Bauchi’s Bala Mohammed, Edo’s Godwin Obaseki, and Oyo’s Seyi Makinde were in attendance.

Otti’s sudden entrance stirred the crowd, with some PDP members praising him while others expressed surprise. Notably absent was immediate past Abia governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, raising eyebrows among attendees.

Addressing the gathering, Otti emphasized his role as governor for all Abia citizens regardless of party affiliation, highlighting the conclusion of elections and litigations. He also debunked alleged safety concerns in the state, thanking PDP governors for defying the purported security alerts to attend the event. Otti lauded the celebrant, Wabara, as a commendable figure.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, in his address, lamented PDP’s limited control in the South-East, urging party members to strive for reclaiming lost states.
