Governor Kefas Appoints Wanted Ex-LG Boss, 110 Others as Aides

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has appointed a former local government chairman, who is currently wanted by the police, as one of his special advisers. The ex-council boss, whose name has been withheld, was implicated in the murder of a former member of the state House of Assembly.

The deceased lawmaker was abducted in Takum and killed on December 30, 2017. Since then, the former chairman has been evading capture. On April 25, 2024, Taraba State Police Commissioner David Iloyanmon confirmed that the police have been actively pursuing the suspect since the state’s chief judge issued an arrest warrant. Iloyanmon emphasized the ongoing efforts to apprehend the ex-council boss, who is believed to have fled the state.

Despite the controversy, Governor Kefas included the wanted individual among the 110 new appointments announced on Wednesday. The appointments were detailed in a press release by Barr. Gibon Kataps, Secretary to the State Government, who listed the new special advisers, senior special assistants, special assistants, and community special assistants.
