Governor Adeleke to Swear In Newly Elected Osun LG Chairmen Today
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State will swear in the newly elected local government council chairmen on Sunday, February 23rd. This was confirmed by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, through his X account on Saturday night.
According to Badmus, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Government House in Osogbo, the state capital, at 12:00 noon. His announcement follows the recently concluded local government elections held on Saturday, February 22nd, amid controversy.
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of all local government and councillorship positions. OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, made the announcement via a Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday evening, stating that PDP candidates secured victory in all 332 wards and all 30 local government council areas in the state.
Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the election as illegal. The party commended residents who boycotted the polls, criticizing the process and its outcome.
