“Government Killed My Nine-Month-Old Twins With Their Injection,” Father Alleges

A Lagos resident, Alozie Promise, has accused a Lagos State Government-run Primary Healthcare Centre in Ajangbadi, Ojo Local Government Area, of negligence following the death of his nine-month-old twin children hours after they were vaccinated.

The twins, Chukwubike Promise and Chukwuebuka Promise, reportedly died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, less than 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at the facility on Christmas Eve.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page, @promise.samuel099, Mr Promise said the children were healthy and active before the visit to the health centre. He alleged that, in addition to the vaccination, a nurse administered deworming medication without informing or seeking consent from him or his wife.

According to the 30-year-old father, the children became unusually weak shortly after the injections. He said the nurse advised that paracetamol be given if they developed a fever, but their condition did not improve despite medication and other home care measures.

“The immunisation was done on the morning of December 24. By the next morning, December 25, both of them were dead,” he said. “After the injection, they became very weak. They couldn’t eat, play, or behave normally again.”

Mr Promise said he suspects that the children may have been given an overdose or substandard medication. He also noted that the nurse who attended to the twins on that day was different from the one who usually administered their immunisations.

He questioned the decision to give deworming tablets without prior discussion, saying there was no indication that the children had worm-related health issues.

The bereaved father further alleged that health officials later suggested food contamination as the cause of death, a claim he rejected. “The same food they had been eating for months did not harm them before. How can it suddenly kill both children at the same time?” he asked.

Mr Promise said he has since buried the twins and has been unable to return to work due to the loss. He also disclosed that his landlord has informed him of plans to renovate the building where he lives, adding to his current difficulties.

Calling for an independent investigation, he appealed to human rights lawyers, civil society groups, and public figures to intervene, stating that he does not believe he will get justice through official channels.

As of the time of this report, Lagos State health authorities had not issued a public response to the allegations.
